The Showground
Fostering a spirit of togetherness, the 130-year-old Showground site will become the social and cultural hub of the precinct and the wider region, where people can gather outdoors, connect and celebrate. It will host a wide range of events throughout the year and provide day-to-day entertainment opportunities for the whole community.
Showground Station Park East Precinct
This parkland and leisure focal point will include a new urban neighbourhood park that will incorporate passive and active spaces for recreation and a children’s playground, retaining many of the existing trees. Public art installations will bring life and creativity to the park and enhance its identity.
Metro Doran Drive Precinct
This vibrant hub encompassing the Metro station is set to deliver more than 10,000sqm of new retail, commercial and community space, including a village plaza surrounded by a variety of shops, businesses and a new supermarket. A walkable, lively place, it will enjoy strong connections to world-class transport and the cultural and recreational activities at The Showground.
Cattai Creek Corridor
This green haven provides a wonderful recreational resource where you can walk, cycle and immerse yourself in nature. It meanders through the Showground and connects to Fred Caterson Reserve, a 58ha recreational zone with soccer, cricket and baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts and a BMX track. The Cattai Creek Corridor Landscape Masterplan intends to restore the natural and recreational values of the waterway and provide strong links to The Showground.
Showground Station Park West Precinct
Set to include new commercial and retail spaces along with new residential development, the area to the west of the Metro will benefit from substantial transformation and gentrification, creating a lively urban environment well connected to Cattai Creek and The Showground attractions.
